March Highlights and 6 months Review

March has been another busy month! I’ve been:

– Completing a portfolio of 10 commercial unit leases for one of my Landlord clients in the West Midlands – all short leases to tide them over whilst development plans are finalised.

– Completing a suite of circa 20 Land Registration applications to rectify historic registration errors for a management company in Worcestershire. I find that many solicitors neglect this end of the process, as fees have been paid, the job completed and everyone has moved on. It is actually critical that attention is paid by your solicitor right until the end of the job – I’ve lost count of the number of sites I have seen where there are defective registrations. They are much easier (and cheaper) to resolve at the time than 10 or 20 years later!

– Working with my great web designer Daniel James to finalise the website – look out for the launch (hopefully next week!).

Whilst I’m here, I’ll take a moment to reflect on the last 6 months. It has been everything I had hoped for and more. After years of working in different sized law firms, it has been a breath of fresh air to finally work for myself. Not only have I seen far more of my wonderful family, and worked for some great clients, I have not been stressed about it. I’m enjoying my work as never before, and am delighted to finally have the space and time to deliver to client’s needs properly without being overworked or overstretched. I’m able to provide the gold service I’m famed for, but without the compromises. Work-life is…for now…nicely balanced! It was a big plunge leaving the comfort of employment, and entering the world of consultancy, but I have not looked back for one instant. Here’s to the next 6 months, and the next phase of my business plan. Thanks for reading, and the messages of support and encouragement I have received so far on this journey.
