My name is John McLean, and I am an experienced Commercial Property Solicitor and Partner with Nexa Law Limited.  I have over 14 years’ experience in handling Commercial Property matters, and can deal with all types of Commercial Property work:

  • Freehold – Acquisitions and Disposals.  I can act for the Buyer or the Seller.
  • Leasehold – Asset Management (Deeds of Variation, Licences to Alter, Licences to Assign, Licences to Underlet & Rent Deposit Deeds), Lease Assignments, Long Leases, Rack Rent Leases and Renewal Leases.  I can act for the Landlord or the Tenant.

I trained at international firm Eversheds LLP in Birmingham (2005-2007) and then worked at Eversheds for a further 9 years as a Solicitor, Associate and Senior Associate in the corporate occupiers department to 2016.  I acted for some very large corporates, with significant estates of commercial property – for example a high street bank, a nationwide self-storage company and a water and sewerage undertaker.

In 2016, on the birth of my first son, I moved to regional firm Thursfields, where I spent a further 5 years as a Senior Associate in the Birmingham and Kidderminster offices.  I acted for a wealth of local businesses in the midlands region – occupiers, landlords, landowners and developers.  I also carried out more specialised work for clients further afield, including a Local Authority based in Hertfordshire.

I joined Nexa Law as a Partner in 2021, and continue to provide pragmatic, commercially focused and technically effective advice to clients locally and nationally.
