It’s Children in Need 2023 today, 17th November 2023. My children have headed into school with their Pudsey ears etc, and I thought I would join them!
Here I am, heading into the office after the school run. I’ve raised a few smiles on the walk to work this morning already. The idea is to wear my “ears” all day (through all the various meetings I have today, plus swimming lessons and out this evening) to raise a bit of awareness for this worthy cause. I watched DIY SOS Big Build Special for Treetops Hospice last night, and felt like I had to take part in some small way.
Children in Need 2023
For those who don’t know (of which I doubt there are many), Children in Need is an annual fundraiser run by the BBC for various charities. All the details are here: We’re there for you- BBC Children in Need . There’ll be a TV spectacular this evening, and loads of events have been running in the lead up. It raises money for lots of worthy causes. Just by way of example, the two nearest to me are:
- Nightstop Mediation Wyre Forest – a project delivering a mediation service for young people who have adverse childhood experiences. They provide emergency accommodation for homeless young people. They provide support to those young people with mediation servicers around resolving conflict and preventing family breakdown. More info here: Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire Nightstop and Mediation Service | Helping homeless young people (wyreforestnightstop.org.uk) .
- Home Start Wyre Forest – funding and home visiting support for families living in an area of significant deprivation: Home-Start Wyre Forest (homestartwyreforest.org.uk) .
Fundraising
I’m not asking for money, just raising awareness. Today, I usually do a quote on social media about lawyers or the law. I’m not today – I’m looking for contributions from YOU.
Please head over to my LinkedIn profile or Facebook page today and comment on my posts about Children in Need. I’m looking for quotes or jokes about lawyers and the law (I know, I know, we’re not that funny a bunch, but try your best). For the first 50 different quotes or jokes I receive, my business will donate £1 to Children in Need . It’s not much, but as a small business owner in the community I’d like to do my bit.
If you want to donate yourself, of course, head on over to the donation page on the Children in Need website here Donate to BBC Children in Need and dive right in.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to seeing you on the next blog post!
Thanks
John
