December News

Hello everyone! Well, we’re there already…it’s December! Winter is most definitely upon us – above is the view out of my office window this morning – a cold and frosty one. No snow in the Midlands yet, but fingers crossed for the arrival of the big man in red in 24 sleeps’ time!

I’m having a look back over the highlights from November, and a little look forward to 2024.

Commercial Property Work

As always, lots of commercial property work last month. The highlights this time mainly seem to revolve around offices!

  • Acting for a borrower refinancing their office premises in Leicester.
  • Selling a redundant office for a charity client in Rugby.
  • Acting for the Landlord of office premises in Birmingham.
  • On going support on a development site in Solihull.

I’ve got the triple this month – all three examples of my “bread and butter” work for property owners. I can help you refinance property, sell property and lease it out. These are the core jobs of a commercial property lawyer, and l’m always happy to be doing this kind of work.

Well, it’s been another busy month on LinkedIn. I’ve been very active over the last month, with lots of content produced. I’ve been posting regularly, and trialing what works and what doesn’t. I try to have a mix of content, with articles on life as a consultant solicitor, commercial property, and a bit of fun with literary quotes about lawyers. I’ve even ventured into video this month! If you’ve not seen it, check out my LinkedIn page and have a chuckle.

I’ve had several meetings off the back of LinkedIn input, and met some really interesting people. So pleased to see the effort gaining traction. I’ve continued to expand my website this month. There’s a new in-depth article to answer the question What Is An Excluded Tenancy? I’ve continued my “A to B” Series on Heads of Terms – what they should contain, and what to look out for. The aim of the Series is to help you get your property deal from “A to B” quickly and painlessly. This month, I’ve added content on Contracting Out of the 1954 Act to follow on from the deeper web content above. The Series is designed to help you if you are reading Heads of Terms, designing Heads of Terms or doing anything with Heads of Terms and Commercial Property.

Looking forwards

It’s looking a busy month. It always is in commercial property, as there is a drive to complete “before Christmas”. There’s lots of Christmas parties and nativity plays too, which should be fun. 2024 is looming onto the horizon. Let’s see what it brings – my business will mature into year 3 later on in the year, which is quite something. I love the fact that it evolves all the time. There are constantly new things to learn, next year I have no doubt will be no different. Nexa law have a new marketing team bedding in, so I’m looking forward to tapping into some wider experience there, to expand and hone my home-grown efforts. Some exciting opportunities have been mooted, so, we’ll see what happens. Watch this space!
